Anyone who is listening to Americana or Alt Country might know, there are as many different genres as there are fish in the sea nowadays. Lonesome Wally takes hold of the original traditions of country folk music, adds in a little Delta Blues, a little Bluegrass. Mix it all up with Old Timey exuberance and deliver it with high energy and a smile... That's Lonesome Wally.
Their first cdCD is called "Long Way From Home". It's a well done album which might give you a light hearted feeling, makes you tap your feet and sing along. What more can you ask for?
Each player in the band brings their own touch to the overall sound. There are many different ways Lonesome Wally goes about making our material. The songs on "Long Way From Home" were chosen by crowd popularity. The track list represents the favorites from our live shows of the last year.It is a mix of Traditional music, standard Pop songs and Original material. Some you'll be familiar with, and some you've never heard before. As a lyric writer Gregg Weiss tries to personalise everything. "It's important to me as a singer to believe in the words I present. I am interested in feeling good, even through hard times."
Lonesome Wally is a party band, first and foremost. They love traditional music and play from the heart." When we play folks tap their feet, they smile. From the stage we see laughter, animated conversation, dancing... Basically people enjoying themselves. This is the most important aspect of my experience as a member of Lonesome Wally; We impart a sense of light heartedness. I love that association."
