BLUEGRASS D'OC ( Bluegrass) France The Bluegrass D'oc come from the Nimes area. Defending bluegrass as "not being country" they started playing together in 2007. Since then they build up a repertoire of classic bluegrass songs and tunes. Being around the festival last year we asked them to open this years edition for us. Not becuase they're a local, cheap, amateur band. But because they'll set the pace for this years edition. Americana iniit's most partylike form.. Bring out the beer and lets dance.... |

GUSTAV AND THE SEASICK SAILORS (indie/folk/americana) Suède Gustav and the Seasick Sailors are a collective of musicians run by the singer and songwriter Gustav Haggren from Helsingborg, Sweden. GATSS was formed in 2004 when the album Vagabonds Polka was released on the record label Marilyn Records. The singles Nightlife and Vagabonds Polka was aired on MTV and the Swedish media announced Gustav to one of Sweden's most promising singer/songwriters. The award-winning photographer Paul Hansen joined the band on tour and published a 5-page article in Sweden's largest newspaper Dagens Nyheter. In 2006 their second album Sirkus was released and Groove Magazine wrote: "Even if you are a tango-dancer, indie girl or you just have a thing for singer/songwriters - Gustav & the Seasick Sailors is a band that works. At least I'm having a hard time holding my crush back". Today Gustav and the Seasick Sailors are back with their third album Brilliant Hands. The sound of the album is bright and folky, somewhat resembling the approach of his debut. But Brilliant Hands, also produced by Gustav himself, clearly displays a more serious and mature songwriter; one who can unravel the finer nuances of heartache as well as expressing the simple joy of being alive. By fully trusting the strength of his material and effectively stripping the arrangements, he manages to let the songs speak for themselves. And thus the album recounts the different handshakes, voices, smells and people that Gustav has ecountered during his travels. |
| THE PEDRO DELGADOS's Site | THE PERDO DELGADOS ( Red/White and Bluetrash) Pays Bas The Pedro Delgados are bringing you rocking red white and bluetrash from - believe it or not - the heart of Amsterdam. Pedro Calvito, Pedro Rocko and Pedro Alejandro started out jamming on a monday, that was february 13th 2006, played for 40 people in de Nieuwe Anita in Amsterdam and 3 days later folks, they supported Voicst and zZz at the Vera club Groningen on thursday february 16th. They can now probably call themselves the fastest booming band in history. Not only booming in popularity but also booming in band
members! After a well deserved sabbatical of half a year, the Pedro's
recorded their first live session called "Silveredsteel Nickelwound"
at the Cuyp Studio's in september '06. Since then the band has more
than doubled in size. Adding two bass players (you never know), Pedro
el Rey and Pedro Conejo, a real saz player, Pedro Doner, an accordionist,
Pedro Arnoldo, playing nearly everything from mouth harp to spoons,
Pedro Hueso and recently playing anything with strings, Pedro Barba!

| Maison Dixon's Site | MAISON DIXON (american roots music) France Raised in the heartland of Minnesota, Jesse fell under the influence of Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan at the age of 14. Soon after he got his own guitar and, four years later in 1989, left his home and country for France where he began his formative years on the road. Jesse explains: "I would play wherever I could, pass the hat, sleep where I could and try to keep on. I felt I was following in the footsteps of my heros. I met Joe on the street in Montpellier around 1991. We started playing and singing together immediately...our guitars took us everywhere.'' Toward the end of the 90's Jesse went back to America
where he discovered the bluegrass festival circuit and got connected
to his roots. ''Bluegrass is a singer's medium. The old time music -
the old tones - really set me free.'' With a repertoire now ranging
from folk and country-blues to bluegrass and gospel, Jesse became a
fixture at various festivals as well as in the local blues scene centered
around the bars on the West Bank of the Mississippi River in Minneapolis.

| Kc McKanzie 's Site | KC MCKANZIE (Folk/Americana/Roots ) Allemagne Diving into silence, pure unprettified longing, baneful
and melancholy, K.C. McKanzie has an appreciation for the macabre, the
offensive and the unusual. The Press places K.C. McKanzie as "Neo-Traditional",
deeply rooted in Folk and Roots-Music while emphasizing that it is music
that stands out from the masses. K.C. McKanzie
places herself somewhere between the English Folk of the 60s and 70s
and the Americana acoustic sound of today. Listening to K.C. McKanzie,
one is reminded of Sandy Denny, Joni Mitchell The duo captures the audience live with their charming ways of dry humour and obvious enjoyment in the music. K.C. McKanzie pays respect to her folk heroes hitting that everlasting nail of John Henry into the rough, brittle wood. |
| PRISON LOVE's Site | PRISON LOVE( Roots/Cajun/Bluegrass ) Irlande Prison Love formed late one night round a campfire in a field just the other side of Dunmore East back in '01. EILEEN ROSE & THE HOLY WRECK (americana) USA Eileen Rose released her fourth album At Our Tables through Evangeline Records March 10, 2008. Opening a new chapter in her already impressive career, she has now taken her music to Detroit, tracking down the city's deep-rooted musical Soul and making it all her own. Aided by seasoned producers Al Sutton (Sheryl Crow, Kid Rock, Detroit Cobras, Electric Six), and Eric Hoegemeyer (Charm Farm, Kid Rock, Uncle Kracker), plus members of Sponge, Detroit Cobras, and her own Holy Wreck(ing) crew, Eileen has recorded her most accomplished record, yet. A joyous celebration of the accidents of Life, Love, and Human Nature. Come the Storm- the homecoming album - saw her moving her away from her Alt Country roots, and exploring new roads into the great wide-open. Intense and emotional, it showed a songwriter growing up in public. Every song a sharp and colourful observation on loss, love and the highs and lows in life. Needless to say, it met with excellent reviews. The same voice of experience haunts the songs on the new Eileen Rose album At our Tables. This new album shows Eileen at the top of her game, more than ever interacting with the studio musicians in bringing the songs to life. “As a solo artist I play with many different musicians, then gather a group when it comes time to hit the studio. But for At our Tables, my live band - the Holy Wreck - were the core players in the studio. It’s one of the things that makes this album the most well-realized of all my records”. |
